Take a tour of the famous Pantheon, one of the grandest buildings in Rome, in this video from the Children’s Video Tour. The painter, Giovanni Paolo Panini, was an Italian artist who was both an architect and a painter. His paintings captured the excitement of the city and were popular with visiting tourists, who took them home as souvenirs just as people take home postcards today. The Pantheon’s impressive architecture has inspired many buildings, including the Rotunda of the National Gallery of Art! On view in the West Building, Gallery 30. http://www.nga.gov/fcgi-bin/tinfo_f?object=165
