Zichterman in memory of Joshua C. Taylor 1981.140 He experimented with abstraction for several years, aiming to "eliminate realistic space" in favor of simple geometric forms. His later work is more representational and focuses almost entirely on the female form, emphasizing the contrast between natural curves and rigidly composed backgrounds of horizontal and vertical forms.

"I have always searched for clarity and harmony over violence, chaos and accidents."

--Will Barnet

Will Barnet genius ! He was a great teacher at the Pennsylvaina Academy of the Fine Arts then became my mentor and friend while I lived in NYC for 20 years. Recently I visited him for his 100th birthday celebration. He is as wise and creative as ever! Such an inclusive spirit. I asked him what the secret to getting to 100 is and I expected him to say something about art or family -he said don't worry about things. I believe when we create art we are not worried because it is a self inflicted struggle. We bring out something from inside and become a part of something bigger, a way to feel fully alive. I will always be grateful for his sharing of knowledge, taking me under his wing and inspiring me to be better then I think I can be.
Watch this Will Barnet Video - in it Will Barnet discusses his Abstract & Realistic Paintings. Mr. Barnet explains that his Abstract & Realistic Paintings share a common thread, which he calls a "language" -- each is orderly and respectful of the surface of Painting. Will Barnet's Abstract Paintngs are finally getting the respect they deserve; Barnet's body of Abstract Paintings and Works on Paper, particularly his watercolors on envelopes, are underrated. Will Barnet is a masterful Artist who is as nice as his talented; I have had the privilege of knowing Elena and Wlll Barnet for over 4 decades. As they both know, I have been a devoted fan of his Abstract Paintings.

I love this video. It reminds me of happy days of painting in Will Barnet's class at the Art Students League, back in the late 70's & early 80's.

I enjoyed the video.I like his emphasis on clarity, harmony over violence. Allan Frumkin told me he thought violence was important in modern art. Winston Hough
