Introduce your child to one of the Gallery’s masterpieces currently on view in the newly renovated 19th-century French galleries—Manet’s “The Old Musician.” The artist often used everyday people as models for his work, painting people from the margins of Parisian life. On view in the West Building, Main Floor, Gallery 89. http://www.nga.gov/fcgi-bin/tinfo_f?object=46637

It's very unusual and exciting!!! Yes, the painting is described by its character - the Old Musician. We can see a skillful use of intense colour, and interesting combination of colours. Then in this video we can hear music. All these things create an unforgetable impression!)))
So interesting...the painting is described by its character))) Vivid colours, good combinations of colours and tints, and what I like most, it is the way that Manet don't paint carefully faces of background characters...as the most important thing is the character of the old musician......
