New York graffiti artist Lee Quiñones joins forces with Abel, Cern, FUTURA, Loomit, Push, RISK and Sano for the creation of "Birds of a Feather," a monumental artwork spray painted on the north wall of The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA for the 2011 exhibition "Art in the Streets," the first major U.S. museum survey of graffiti and street art. The mural is filled with icons and emblems which represent the growth of the medium: the U.S. Constitution as the graffiti art charter, the unstoppable locomotive train powered by spray cans, the international cohort of taggers and bombers flocking together like birds of a feather. Quiñones honors the rare collaboration with an inscription: respect the movement that moves with and for you.
