October 20, 2010 Immerse yourself in a dream landscape: a group of six dancers, draped in whirling costumes unfurl like lotus flowers and begin a delicate slow dance of unparalleled simplicity and poetic beauty. The interplay of large and small gestures creates a potent, hypnotic environment of image, sound, and performance. In their Chicago debut, internationally acclaimed Japanese company Sankai Juku performs their unique, award-winning Butoh, incorporating stunning imagery and delicate yet hyper-controlled movements, with a lyrical and electronic score by Takashi Kako and Yoichiro Yoshikawa. Part of the MCA Global Stage series. Copresented with the Harris Theater and The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago. For more information, please visit www.mcachicago.org/performances
