Meet Sue Ellen Paxson a member of Administration at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in another installment of this continuing series. Go behind the scenes at a major art museum to see what it takes to make it all work.
My name is Sue Ellen Paxson. I am Director of Exhibitions and Special Projects. Just about everything, at one time or another, can go into one of those categories.
This is the exhibition calendar. It's not that we don't have this online, it's just that when we play with moving things around, it's great to have this kind of a board.
I facilitate the movement of a project or an exhibition through different divisions and departments and, luckily, I work with lots and lots of really confident people
who carry out these projects.
[...like Rob's collaboration with the Ghetty...]
[Yes, yes. I thought so...]
The best part of my job without doubt is working with artistic people and the art, and I can say that that has remained the same, from the day I started, until today.
I just really, really love the people, even though they are not the same, but they've all been great and all weird and enjoyable.
I was in California, gosh...I guess it was back in 1994, or so, when I stopped dead in my tracks because I saw this car, bright yellow and I thought, "What is this? I need to have this car."
See the deal with the car is, it's huge and it gives me a chance to be tall and I admit I sit on two pillows,
...I sit on two pillows when I drive. You can offer up the world to people for free.
I mean, come on in, here is the world upstairs in Gallery 1, 2, and 3, all different ages, all different cultures,
all different materials represented and it's life changing.
"It's My Art" is it's my life. I mean, I love art, it changes everything, it opens up horizons and it's my art, it's my life.
Do you have a name for your car?
