Rustication is an architectural term that contrasts with ashlar, smoothly finished, squared block masonry surfaces. The Met on Bernini
0:03:15
Gian Lorenzo Bernini dominated the Roman art world of the seventeenth century, flourishing under the patronage of its cardinals and popes while also challenging contemporary artistic traditions. His sculptural and architectural projects reveal an innovative interpretation of subjects, use of forms, and combination of media. Forging a path for future artists, he played an instrumental role in establishing the dramatic and eloquent vocabulary of the Baroque style. New York Times Magazine on the Aesthetic of Greg Lynn
0:04:45
Ever since he was a baby designer in the early 1990s, Lynn, 44, has been the standard-bearer for a generation nursed at the computer screen. A star disciple of Peter Eisenman, the aging bad boy of architecture’s theoretical fringe, Lynn was an early advocate of “blob” design, whose fluid relationship between architecture, landscape and site would have been unimaginable in the age of T squares and ink pens.

As the title suggests, the work is a functioning fountain made out of large plastic found children's toys that have been cut and reassembled in multiple layers, with water spouting from its top and pooling at its base. Constructed with more than fifty-seven prefabricated plastic whale and shark teeter totters welded together and unified by the application of a white automotive paint, /Fountain/ will be a gathering place for the warm summer months.
It's wonderful! Greg Lyn is a very talanted architect and his works are wort admiring! I've never seen such interesting wirks and i would advice me friends to see it.
I it amazing. How certain human minds goes. I am glad for Greg Lynn to be reeched thru my computer.I will show his work for my students in Brasil. And plan good open art lessons. Thank you.
I really like his work and Lynn's approach to his work through the materials. Clearly this is an architect's take on the creative process. I say that because I was looking for him to talk about the Du Champs "Fountain". I saw the title, "Fountain," and I was thinking he was going to play with Du Champs. There's a history there. That was my expectation. Instead, I see he says, " I'm a much more conservative person when it comes to the boundaries between things. So, for me, a fountain is as far as I would go into something that would be in the art world." That fine, I think.
You should have poptropica on your computers!
