Artist Charles Gaines sits down with us to discuss his upcoming show "Gridwork" at the Hammer.

Charles Gaines: Gridwork, 1974-1989 will be the first comprehensive museum survey dedicated exclusively to the early work of Los Angeles–based artist Charles Gaines. Featuring works from the beginning of a career that now spans four decades, the exhibition comes at a moment of renewed discussion about Conceptual and Post-Minimalist art. An examination of Gaines’s contribution to the field is critical.
