This video from the National Gallery of Art Children's Video Tour explores Leonardo da Vinci's 15th-century painting of Ginevra de' Benci. Ginevra posed for this picture in Florence, Italy, 500 years ago--when she was about 16 years old. This painting is the artist's first portrait and one of his earliest experiments with oil paint, which he used to depict details such as Ginevra's golden hair pulled back in a bun, pink cheeks, elegant brown dress, and hard-to-read expression. What do you suppose Ginevra might be thinking about? On view in the West Building Main Floor, Gallery 6. http://www.nga.gov/fcgi-bin/tinfo_f?object=50724
